Sam Tsui is one of the latest internet superstars that is changing the face of music and its evolution. Along with his buddy producer and music virtuoso Kurt Scheider, who is at the forefront of discovering new ways to use technology and YouTube, Kurt displays the creative fire in twenty somethings that is changing how we listen to music online.
The two have collaborated together doing mash-ups to popular covers in unique music and video variations. Dressed in regular jeans, flannel and sneakers these two take social media to the next level with YouTube hits that reach over 150 million views on Kurt's YouTube page and 110 million hits along for Sam Tsui's songs. Popular Sam Tsui tunes include the Michael Jackson Medley (21 million views), Don't Stop Believing (18 million views), Love The Way You Lie (11 million views) and Just A Dream (10 million views). Not to mention he has his very own first single out called Don't Want An Ending which he sings and acts in with a very special friend.
When asked on Ellen, the popular daytime TV talk show in America, about his start in music, Sam replied that he always remembers singing from a young age because he grew up in a musical household with his mom being a high school music teacher:
"I never took formal lessons in singing or piano or anything - I always loved music and wanted to make a career out of it."
Happy go lucky and down to earth also appear to create a likeability factor that continues to build his audience base. When you see Sam you immediately like him - at least we do.
"Me and my friend Kurt, we're just two kids who make videos and make music and it's fun for us and it blows my mind that people (watch us)."
Most recently, Sam and Kurt released the song and video to John Lennon's "Imagine" with group Ahmir in rembrance to the victims of the recent Tucson, Arizona shooting on January 8, 2011 and the speedy recovery of rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
