A fan in the front row told the newspaper: "I was shocked. She's a rebel" while another added: "They should have known she'd do something like that."
However, an X Factor spokesperson stood up for RiRi on the show, saying: "There were no close up shots of Rihanna's shoes. We believe the performance was suitable."
