Linkin Park plan to release their follow-up to "A Thousand Suns" sometime in 2012 because the creative process is going so well. Talking to Rolling Stone Magazine, Chester Bennington revealed their was a ton of left over material that didn’t make the cut for A Thousand Suns but was waiting on the sidelines to be explored.

“On ['A Thousand Suns'] there were still a lot of irons in the fire. We knew, 'OK, we can't do this forever. Let's leave this batch and we'll come back and address it when we start up again.'"

Producer Rick Rubin commented to Billboard in June that the band got together regularly in a once-a-week meeting to listen to what people are coming up with, to keep the creative fires alive.

One major advantage that has forever changed how Linkin Park does music is technology. Prior to this upcoming album, LP only managed to produce 3 albums in the last 10 years. Bennington commented how the whole process has sped up, how they hope to release a new LP every 18 months.

"Technology, thank God, has gotten to the point when what used to be three refrigerator-sized racks of equipment and a full board the size of a king bed can now fit in my back pack -- and we're working on new music as we're driving in the car to a venue or in our hotel room, and when we come home, everybody works in their homes."

"A Thousand Suns," debuted at No. 1 upon its September 2010 release and has currently sold 784,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Iridescent was the fourth single and video the band released which featured on the Transformers 3 soundtrack.

Linkin Park are currently nominated for the 2011 VMA Awards for Waiting For The End in the category of Best Special Effects.
