Adam Levine shows that when the stakes are high enough and the girl is pretty enough, we can all become heroes. Yesterday, Levine and Maroon 5 dropped their newest video for "Payphone" which previously was teased with a super comic lyric video that itself turned in almost 14 million views.

It's a classic love story except this time the hero is left holding nothing in his hand. The video first presents Levine beside a blown up 1967 Shelby Cobra making his way to a payphone to call "the girl." Then, the video moves back in time showing Levine sitting and becoming increasingly bored at a bank job that is apparently killing him except for the long legged blond with exquisite red lipstick. A robbery takes place with armed gunman who force everyone to the floor. Levine decides to be a hero when he sees his damsel cowering behind a desk so ee grabs a gun and the lady making a dash for the bank exit. Unfortunately, the cops think they're the bad guys. Levine abandons his love in a moving selfless act where he steals the Shelby (oh whatta car) luring the police after him. So touching that she is safe. In the end, Levine out runs, out wits and out lives anything in his path yet...he doesn't have the girl. Wiz Khalifa makes his appearance which doesn't much fit the story but it all looks good.
