The single represents another evolution in the band's sound according to frontman Chester Bennington:
“All of our songs take these really big creative turns and twists throughout the process, so sometimes songs will start out as a melody or some musical chord progressions,” Bennington told MTV. “Other times, they’ll start out as beats, and the next thing you know they kind of evolve over the course of the making of the album. But what’s interesting about this track is the really high energy and the really strong electronic melodies and hooks kind of set this song apart, which is why we chose it as our first single.”
Linkin Park's last album "A Thousand Suns" was released in 2010 - almost an eternity for fans pleading with the band to release something new sooner. The band describes their new-found-sound as nü-metal which really resonates with the current identity of the band.
The new album is set for a June 26th release produced by long time collaborator Rick Rubin.
