Lady Gaga has launched a brand new social media experiment in the form of LittleMonsters.com. The service, currently in beta-mode will give Gaga the ability to interact with her fans directly online.

Gaga commented recently that you too could "be among the first to experience a new community only for Little Monsters. Because you were born this way!"

In the works and talks for over two years, Gaga invested 20% in company behind the system, The Backplane who are extremely excited for the opportunity to develop their platform for the most vocal social media fans on the planet via Gaga's little monsters.

The company has big dreams hoping to be bigger than Facebook and Google - perhaps with the help of big time celebrities and a solid innovative service it could be possible.

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, The Backplane has pitched reps for Justin Bieber, Eminem and the NFL, but Gaga and her fan community remains its "most important" client.

Insiders at The Blackplane hinted that the community would be about fostering creative works and media, that fan content could be posted on the site and eventually incorporated into Gaga's advertising and marketing..for starters.

At present, the site asks fans to Request An Invitation with no mention of how long it might take. The site itself shows a collection of pictures with a straighforward logo in the top lefthand corner "Little Monsters" followed by a five column menu and search box on the opposite side.

Will you be checking it out?

Gaga's been rather quiet as of late performing at the New York New Year's Eve celebration. Her last official video was Marry The Night plus she recently released a book with Terry Richarson called Lady Gaga.
