'Part of Me', the follow up of 'Teenage Dream' debuted at number 1 on the Billboard's Hot 100, making it just the 20th track in the chart's 53-year history to shoot to the top spot.
Perry joins the grand list of some of the industry's most unique, powerful, popular and legendary artists such as Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Eminem and Lady Gaga who have all made it to this top spot in previous years.
'Part of Me'also shot to number 1 on the Digital Songs Chart, taking up more than 411,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The single is fiesty and powerful and feels alot like a personal dig at Perry's ex-husband Russell Brand.
