According to Carly Rae, if Justin Bieber hadn't been doing dishes at his mom's house, he would have never heard her modest Canadian hit on the radio sparking a rollercoaster and even cosmic journey that has put the Mission-native star on the top of the charts around the world.
In one interview Carly put it all in perspective:
"Such is the power of the Bieb: When he tweets about you, he changes your life."
Soon after the tweet, Carly's 604 label was approached by Bieber and manager Scooter Braun who wanted to spread the song around the world by making her Bieber newest and first artist on his own record label - Schoolboy Records.
If that wasn't enough, Jepsen was shortly invited to L.A. and brought, surprise surprise, to see Bieber recording his newest album Believe. After the initial shock that she was actually meeting Justin Bieber, she was asked to record a song with him - OMG!
With the Bieber marketing machine behind her and some really decent talent, Carly Rae has catapulted to one of the most known contemporary artists around with over 230 million views for her viral hit "Call Me Maybe." Plus her catchy tune also enjoys having the most parodies of all time with almost every institution or individual making their own viral hit.
Jepsen will drop her much anticipated album ‘Kiss’ on 17 September. Until then please enjoy MTV's exclusive performances and interview footage of Carly Rae Jepsen.
