This month's brand new PUSH Artist is straight out of the streets of Harlem, New York - A$AP Rocky.
We first took an "MTV Look" at A$AP at the 2012 MTV VMA Awards with Rihanna singing Cockiness/We Found Love with our man. Now he's featured all month as our newby PUSH Artist who is changing the face of Hip-Hop as we speak.
‘Rocky is music, music videos and fashion,’ says A$AP Rocky, summing up his quickly blossoming career. The style-conscious NYC-based hip-hop star started out making mixtapes, then scored a recording deal thanks to his breakout hits ‘Purple Swag’ and ‘Peso.’ His debut album ‘LONG.LIVE.A$AP’ debuted to feverish buzz at number one on the ‘Billboard’ chart and hit the top 10 on the iTunes chart in 24 countries, including the #2 spot in the U.K. and Germany, and the #1 spot in Canada, France, and Australia.
What else would you expect from an artist whose given name, Rakim, honours one of the founding fathers of rap? Now, as MTV PUSH backs his bid for global superstardom, A$AP Rocky (the A$AP stands for Always Strive And Prosper) is poised to make his own mark on hip-hop history.
