The 2011 VMAs were the most successful yet with Lady Gaga becoming Joe Calderone and Beyonce announcing her pregnancy to the world that led to almost 9,000 tweets per second.
According to a statement by facility Sr. Vice President & General Manager Lee Zeidman, “Staples Center is incredibly excited to have the opportunity to host the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. We look forward to continuing our relationship with our partners at MTV and hosting this one of kind music event here at L.A. Live.”
We are particularly interested in what role social media will play at this year's award show given the spawn of new services like Instagram and Pinterest!
No word or announcements have been mae regarding this year's host, performers or categories. At present, MTV is focusing on their highly comedic MTV Movie Awards which features Russell Brand as Maitre D'.
