Lady Gaga kicks off the show dressed as Jo Calderone from her You & I video. In stark contrast to past events, Mr. Calderone launches into a smokey tirade about his relationship with Gaga with beautiful Brooklynisms punched into the character. Lady Gaga would stay as Jo all night long. No fancy costumes, just a white T, black pants, loafers, hair gel and lots of cigarettes.
Surprise #2
Lady Gaga turns You & I into a rock and roll number bringing out Brian May of Queen to perform a tantalizing electric guitar solo. Gaga maybe Pop but Jo is definitely Rock & Roll.
Surprise #3
Just as fans are settling in, two party crashes come stompin through the massive white arches - namely Jay Z and Kanye West performing their hit single from their hit collaboration Watch The Throne - Otis.
Surprise #4
Best Collaboration goes not to those hip hop jammin' junkies like Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Chris Brown or Lupe Fiasco - nope - our Asian dressed wonder Katy Perry Takes the moonman with Kanye West.
Surprise #5
Chris Brown can fly. It's nothing new that this dude is magic on the dancefloor but how about high in the air? Perhaps even better as he somersaulted from one stage to another both forwards and backwards.

Beyonce rubs her baby belly at the end of her performance of "Love On Top." Mrs. Jay Z Knowles was glowing from ear to ear as her number opened and she ripped open her jacket and began rubbing the miracle spot.
Surprise #7
Britney Spears ALMOST kisses Jo Calderone (Lady Gaga)on the lips.. Presenting Britney Spears with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Britney Spears seemed almost up tothe task..and why not first she famously kissed Madge in 2003 and now perhaps a transgender Gaga?
